Wow do I need to update this blog!

Basically the short version is I was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma.on the 1st of April this year. Total shock of course. So I have been dealing with Chemo treatments, side effects and generally feeling bad Emotionally and Physically.
But the Dr suggest hobbies to divert your mind from the pain, and keep you happy.
So I have been Knitting mostly, this is a project I can take along to my many appointments. I will post some pics in some future posts or if you would like to friend me on Facebook at Marie Dean Eisenhower , there are lots of pics there.

I Also have been scrapbooking here and there and some card making. I had the great opportunity to be involved with Kiwi Lanes online crop the other month and it was SOOOOO MUCH FUN! Because even though I was feeling pretty sick . I could feel like I was cropping and scrapbooking away with friends.And there was even prizes I won some Paper packs way cute paper .

I really feel the need to catch up on some scrapbook layouts too. I look at all my wonderful supplies and gadgets I have accumulated and really need to start using them.
I am addicted to Kiwi Lane Tamplates right now I love the look, the ease of use and that I am using up some of my paper stash. I was going to be helping them at the CK scrapbook convention at Valley forge PA 28th 29th and 30 of July. And it would of been one of the highlights of my summer. Meeting the Kiwilane girls and working on their wonderful booth. But I guess the cancer had other ideas.So I am so sad that I can"t do that now :-(
I am hoping that I at least will feel well enough to go visit the convention. Just on a smaller scale and at least get to meet the girls. And of course shop a little. But we will see my last Chemo is the 22nd of July . So maybe I will be over the first days of side effects we will see.

Anyway I really need to post pictures Because I have Been " Making and Mending" in more ways than one lately. I have been trying to " Make " the most of what life has thrown at me. And try to relax and "Mend ".
More to follow in the next couple of weeks. I had my 5th chemo treatment last Friday the 1st. So I am feeling the effects these last few days. But hopefully I will start to feel better the end of this week and be able to create again. In the mean time I am knitting .

My New PA Dress a Girl Blog and Sewing Event.

I am so excited to now be the Pennsylvania state Rep for dress a girl around the world . Pop on over to www.dressagirlaroundthe world.com and click on State reps and scroll down and see my smiling face :-)
I am so excited to be even more involved with this charity. I will now have a blog called PAdressagirl.blogspot.com that is now where I will post any progress and announcements and pictures to do with Dress a girl. Ok I may occasionally post one here :-). But if you really want to know whats going on please Become a follower on that blog and you will know all the scoop.
There I will also post info about upcoming sewing events and how you can be involved.
Remember we still have room at my house this Saturday the 26th to come sew with us, all dresses will be sent with a Bucknell university group traveling to Dominican Republic in March Thank you Collin Mckinney. So we Want to Load those Suitcases. So more Little Princesses can receive a dress.

So this Blog will go back to being My own creations either Paper, Fabric, Scrapbooking, Or anything else that fills my heart! and as Dress a girl is a Major part of my life and Heart now, I won't be able to resist showing a dress now and then. And maybe one day I will be traveling to be able to Dress a Girl somewhere in Person. Then I think my heart will just Burst!

Another Great Donation for Dress a Girl

So I went on another scouting mission for supplies for Dress a Girl around the world.
This time I headed to another small Thrift store I remembered seeing as I drove to lewisburg from Shomokin Dam on rt 15.
It's called Sanctuary Praise ( church on the hill) Thrift center.And I met some wonderful Sweet ladies. I told them about the charity and the Pastors daughter who was there was very willing to donate.She said when they get fabric they usually don't know what to do with it! ( well that just about stopped my heart LOL).I was able to pick up some gently used sheets, new pillowcases and fabric and a cute ruffled curtain. And even some Lace. Thank you so Much Sanctuary Praise thrift store for your Wonderful Donation . They will be used to make many girls around the world very Happy.
And all you Local people Check this wonderful thrift store out they have some nice things and great prices.

While I was there I picked up a cute Tunic top in a great teal color Brand new with tags on originally $40 but I paid $5 , a Skirt which I need to take in but very cute, a sweater 2 peice set, 8 sewing patterns ( little girls dresses LOl) and some Terry cloth fabric ( new ) which I plan to use to make Hand towels for Our Church Humanatarian Hygeine Kits. All for $15 the one tunic top alone would cost more than that. In these economic times lets support the Little stores and Be Thrifty It Pays to save.
But I must say that My goal is for every piece of clothing I bring in to the house 2 others need to leave my house/ closet :-) so I am off to purge then Donate !

The Blue fabric on the middle right has penguins surfing I Know that is random But I think some little girls will get a kick out of it and it will make fun dresses.The Navy fabric on the left has a ruffle so will make a cute Ruffled dress.

The Packages in the center are 2 packs of Pillow cases. Yes some of them are white. But with some contrast ruffles, and straps and a pocket I think they will make great dresses.

Can I just say I am loving making these dresses. And am quite addicted :-)
Some friends have asked if I will make them for their Daughters here, then they will pay me and I will use the proceeds towards Postage and supplies for making more dresses. So I will keep you posted on that, I will probably offer them up for sale on My sister site Boo boos bows , Those Dresses will be made from New Fabric, Materials. I have purchased and Not the fabric Donated for the Dress a Girl dresses.and I will be making nothing personally on them I will offer them for around $15-20 depending on Fabric and all proceeds will go right back to Buying supplies or Mailing flat rate Boxes of dresses to The Dress a girl charity.

I didn't want to mix Business and Charity, But after making it a matter of prayer I am realising that My Business can help with this charity too , and after Some recents events that could have discouraged me, I am trying So hard to follow the promptings , To tell me what to do In My life. And I am Greatful That I have a Heavenly father that has Blessed Me With some Abilities to bless the lives of Others in a Positive way And that he does answer prayers
So I need to follow my heart and mind and faith.

This is one of my favorites I had Made a skirt a while back with a panel I bought at the thrift store and knew I had some fabric left I love it so now I am looking for panels with great prints to make these adorable dresses

My friend Vicki gave me some fabric a few months back. and I used this wonderful spring green print .I had enough fabric to make 6 dresses I have 4 sewn 2 cut out and ready.

As you can see I have been busy But this is a Great Addiction LOL
Today I had better do some housework But maybe I can sneak and sew at least one dress today!

"Bargain Shopping" I will use this eventually

So a few Years Back ( probably at least 5 now) when the Trim-Tex factory store moved from the factory to Downtown Williamsport they had a huge sale. And what Seamstress/ Crafter can resist a good sale at a Trims and Notions store.Wow was there some good stuff cheap.Large spools of trims galore, at great bargain prices. So you have to buy it right :-).
So as I was going through my stash to see what would work for the dresses. Check out what I remembered I had Bought at this sale

Yes you are reading that right, this Very Large spool of Ric Rac 250 yards of it was only 75 cents . and I don't mean per yard

It is a really Light Light Pastel green color and actually has a flange that you can sew into a seam. But could also be Un- picked off the Backing and used as regular Ric Rac

So if any of you need Light Green Ric Rac I'm your Go to Girl. So don't buy any I have you covered LOL .I know you will now sleep better at night Knowing that right :-)

But don't you think it will make a cute edge or trim for some of the dresses.

I also picked up this Fabric tape to. I can't remember
how much I paid for it, but me being the Bargain shopper I am ,I can't imagine it was much . Probably a $1or $2 a spool

And I think with some playing around and not folding it like bias tape, but sandwiching it with the arm hole in between for the straps etc ( confused yet :-)I think this might work.

So you never know what those bargain finds will be used for in years to come.

Sadly the Trim Store In Downtown Williamsport Is Closed Now. Kristina Did a great Job at keeping it open for as Long as she could even after the Trim Tex Factory in Williamsport closed. But you can find her at TrimKo on Facebook and she has a website too the link is on her page (hmm I wonder if she has elastic I will Have to check it out and contact her). But I miss my trips to that Fun little Treasure Trove of trims.Nothing like seeing and feeling all those Trims and ribbons in person.

"It Never Hurts to Ask" Dress a Girl Finds

So I decide to scout around the thrift stores today to see what they would have. But before I left the House I printed out the colored flyer from the Official Dress a Girl Around the world Website and My own Info too with a List of Donations needed.

So I stopped at Crossroads thrift store in Montandon , and showed them the flyer and explained what we wanted to do on a local level to do out part. And she said " Here's a Box fill it with what ever you see in the store you could use"!
How Great and generous is that. Thank you Marilyn Lenker Director your amazing so this is what I found this time.
I say this Time because she said I should come in Once a Month and fill a box ( wow). Now who said there isn't great people out there. Just goes to Show It Never Hurts to Ask

Girls shirts,Sheets, valances,and fabric to add to t-shirt dresses

So I head to the H.U.F discount ( thrift ) store in Milton and ask the same questions. The Manager said will we don't really get sheets etc and when we do we throw them out as they are in to bad of a shape to use.I asked her about Little girls shirts but she said she didn't really Get Many of those either OK?
She took the flyer and said she would read it over. So I scouted the store and found some little shirts which I bought. and I can't wait to add cute little skirts to them all my stash of 9 shirts came to 15 dollars so not too bad. I don't mind Buying from this store though as I like their Mission in General. that they have to Give people a Hand Up and Not a Hand Out, there is a difference.I have seen them help so Many family's that have lost everything due to fire etc , Or Unemployment due to Illness ,etc

So then I headed to another Thrift store in Milton American rescue workers. I showed the flyer there etc. But she need to ask her Director. So she has my info, so we will see. I was able to pick up 4 pillowcases and a King size sheet for $6 dollars though and the Sheet has a cute ruffled edge that will make cute dresses.

Here's the mistake today I forgot that there is a difference between a pillow Sham and a Pillow case. Shams tend to open in the back and are sometimes Padded in the front So don't really work for the dresses. Oh well I bought some brand New Shams for $3 Guess I should change the color scheme in My Bedroom LOL

Well I think I have enough supplies to Make Many dresses. And for any of you Local friends, I will be Having regular get togethers at my house for any of you that would like to Help. The first big One will Be Feb 26th stay Tuned for Evite

So Here are the specifics of what they can send me to donate for the Dress a Girl Service project (Thank you). So I thought I would write a list so feel free to donate as little or as much as you want, Thank you to all those that are willing to donate.I promise All donations will be used and Pictures will be posted to prove it.This will be an ongoing charity that I plan on being involved in. So as you de-clutter your Linen closets feel free to send those extra pillow cases My way. Check those clearance racks too Pillowcases are always on sale.

Pillowcases- any size But Light weight fabric Not flannel or jersey stretch fabric. Raid your linen closet or catch those sales, Or thrift stores are another great source, New or gently used are fine too. any color or print is fine.

Fabric- light weight , cotton, cottonpoly mix ,sheets ( gently used) are a great source of fabric too this will be used to make Pillowcase style dresses and add skirts to tshirts.

T shirts- Girls t shirts age 1-16 even small adult womens would work too. we add cute little skirts to these to make adorable dresses. Once again New,gently used ( no stains).

Bias Tape/ Ribbon- 1/2 inch double fold is best, or 1 inch wide ribbon works too. But a more sturdy ribbon such as Grosgrain is better. Packages Of Bias tape can sometimes be found at Thrift stores very cheap too, So check them out

Thread- various colors

Elastic- 1/2 inch is best but 1/4inch works too.

Postage- monetary donations towards Postage. We plan on putting as many as we can in a flat rate box and sending them to the Organizer in Arizona who distributes them from there.

It has been forever since I have posted to My blog and I apologise for that. I promise I will be Better at Showing what I am " Making and Mending".

So I was checking My Face book News one day and My Good Friend Sarah Mcbride had a link to Dress a Girl around the world, I was curious so went to check it out. I was very moved and this charity really touched my heart. Every little girl Deserves a Dress of her own. This wonderful Charity makes it happen By taking Donated Dresses to Places such as Uganda, India, and many other Countries. The smiles on the recipients Faces Warms your Heart. So I couldn't resist Helping.
As My own little Girl goes out on her Own this year to College. I know she Never had to Worry that she didn't have clothes to wear, especially those cute Girly dresses, that we just take for granted here in the United States.
I hope I can make a difference in the life of Many cute " princesses" from all over the world.This will be a Organization I hope to contribute to for many years.

So I went through my fabric stash and Linen Closet. and so Far have cut out 38 dresses.Now I Know why I was saving all this fabric. At one time I had good intentions of Making dresses for My own Little Princess. But At 17 Cute little Kittys , gingham's, and hearts don't really work for her anymore :-)
and the fact that I didn't meet a fabric on sale that I didn't like, that I just had to Buy for those future projects that I was going to get too.

My first pillowcase dress I plan on putting a pink pocket on the front.

I also made these super easy T shirt dresses. The T shirts were 4 for $10 at Micheals on Sale. The Fabric was from this Wonderful Bright colored nearly New King size sheet that I picked up from the thrift Store.
I Plan on Having a Fun Get together sometime with some great friends to Make many more of these Cute Dresses.But I'm excepting Donations any thing from Pillowcases to thread, or donations for postage, every little helps.

Catching up on scrapbook pages !

Ok I know I said I was making a page a day and I only missed a couple of days last week. But I haven't posted them on my blog so here they are.
I received more templates from Kiwi lane designs so was playing with spook alley border template and wacky accesorie set.
The first 5 pictures also show the great paper from Echo ark paper called "Sweet Summertime". This is actually designed by someone I Know Crystal Wilkinson For those in My ward at church. she is Bishop and Sister Clarks daughter ,The papers are available at scrapbook lady in Lewisburg or online. She has been designing digital for a while. I'm just not a Digital kinda gal :-) . So I love that she is designing physical papers that I can play with. I wish her well and I hope she designs many more great papers.

Combining papers
These are some Making memories papers I have had a while. I really didn't care for the paisley print in this pack. But Now I have been Introduced to the kiwi lane way of scrapbooking I am trying papers I would have used before . When you use just a small amount on this border and it's combined with the other patterns in this set I Love it. I actually made 2 double page layouts the same one for me and one to give away. I plan on giving this away at the end of this Month as part of the family celebration and added who ever wins family name to the top of the page.So be sure to be a follower of my blog and I will be posting details at the end of the month.

I know this isn't your traditional " back to school page" but I wanted to use some pretty papers and to convey My daughters style in her back to school page this year so I used these baby girl papers by Basic Grey

Black white and pink are one of my favorite color combos. I made this page without any specific pictures in mind I just wanted to try out these papers that I bought from Paper loft in a pad I'm sure I will use it for some black and White pics of My Daughter

Separation dealing with being empty nesters

On Monday labor day we had the opportunity to go to a great church picnic at a local theme park.It was so much fun to fellowship with other familys and see the little kids having fun. Our 2 kids (19 & 17) were there too but went their separate ways to hang out with their friends and ride the rides. My son with his friends My daughter with hers.Because they couldn't decide what rides to ride together . Although they did meet up later

It reminded me of when they were little and they were playing and fighting and arguing over some toy in the living room while I was in the kitchen right next to the living room.
After numerous attempts to tell them to " stop fighting" " knock it off"" play nicely"etc etc.
I finally lost it and raised my voice and Yelled "JUST SEPARATE WILL YOU" . It went quiet then My son Stefan said . " Woah Becky I don't know what that means but we better do it" LOL
After I stopped laughing and pulled myself together. I had to go in and explain that separate means to not be next to each other put some space between you so you won't argue.
So I guess they now know what that means now, as they knew they would argue if they were together the whole time on Monday :-)

So the same day Monday, also meant that with both our kids doing their own thing . It gave Tim and I an opportunity to walk around just the 2 of us. We rode the crazy rides like the ferris wheel and the train around the park LOL. Although Tim loves the roller coasters etc I'm a little more wary I used to ride them all. Guess I am getting old LOL. Anyway back on topic, it gave us the opportunity to talk about our future.
We were thinking about next year this time when Both our kids will be gone. My son on a mission for 2 years and My daughter away at college . The above picture pretty much sums up how I will be on the day they leave.No we were not planning cruises just the two of us,Finances won't be that good with paying for these new ventures of our children ! We were just reminiscing about when they were small and just thinking how different it will be
But it reminded me of a great article from the Henry B Eyring ( to read the whole article click on following link)

He talked about when he said goodbye to his father on a street corner in New york and knew that his life would be different now .

The time had come for parting, and I started across the street. I stopped almost in the center, with people rushing by me. I turned to look back. Instead of moving off in the crowd, my father was still standing on the corner looking at me. To me he seemed lonely and perhaps a little sad. I wanted to go back to him, but I realized the light would change and so I turned and hurried on.

Years later I talked to him about that moment. He told me that I had misread his face. He said he was not sad; he was concerned. He had seen me look back, as if I were a little boy, uncertain and looking for assurance. He told me in those later years that the thought in his mind had been: Will he be all right? Have I taught him enough? Is he prepared for whatever may lie ahead?

I think in so many ways I feel just like this father "will they be all right?" "Have I taught them enough/". Or at least enough to get by, then they will learn from experiences. Although I am excited for them too as they experience new things . My Heart also aches that they will not be around, I know I have to let go and let them fly . But it sure isn't easy. So many people have said how they dealt with this time in their lives . I think the best advice is to Pray and ask for guidance as we deal with each Time in our live. I will be keeping busy and looking forward to their story's that they will tell as they go out into the world. But I know they will return to the nest every now and then. and I will be there. with New feathers on the beds in the nest and worms to feed them LOL

I Love that I have a Boy and a Girl. so I have been greatly blessed.

I Love My Son I get to enjoy all the ruggedness of boys. Scouts, camping trips bike rides, muddy clothes, rocks found in pockets, sweaty sneakers, Hot- sauce tastings, ( Not me just him lol )and all that So Much Boy stuff LOL he is a wonderful son who is proud to be serving his country in the National Guard and preparing to serve the lord on a mission.He has such a upstanding countenance and valiant spirit

I Love My daughter for all that Girly girl stuff we get to do, Shopping, nails, fashion,.I love that she is a girly girl, but is not afraid of hard work and serving others too.She loves to act on stage and also in the national Forensics Competitions( Public speaking when I was in school) . she likes to look girly too and has such a sweet countinance and beautiful spirit

The family Proclamation says" Children are an Heritage from God" when I think of Heritage I think of such a treasure given too us.
I am eternally Greatfull for the gift of motherhood that I have the opportunity to raise along side my Wonderful eternal companion/ husband such a choice Son and Daughter of God

I Love My husband he is My best friend, My love and My eternal companion and I am so grateful for that He lives the above principles every day and I am so grateful for that he is such a support for our family. He is a wonderful father and a great example of Christlike love for Our kids . and he is an amazing Husband.

We are only human and as with any other couple may not agree on everything. But I love that he treats me with respect and love and that I will be with him for eternity . But as it says on this scrapbook page he is the

My modest Makeovers/ Teaching My family

I signed up over at Wardrobe Refashion to not Buy one article of new clothing for 2 months and refashion what I have. I took the following pledge

I have been doing this for a little while anyway. or shopping at Thrift stores then making things over or Refashioning to fit me.
I was sick of not being able to find Cute Modest clothes and didn't want to pay high prices for shopping online. And after a trip out west to Utah, Arizona and Las vegas My Eyes were opened to some great styles of modest clothing.
Now I am not talking Long sleeves Roll neck sweaters, and skirts down to the floor LOL
Just cute modest clothing that at least covers my shoulders.

I was going to set up a separate blog for My Modest Makeovers. But what with this blog and trying to set up My Boo Boo's Bows website and business blog to be fully operational . I think I would loose My mind if I had another blog to keep up. So i will be posting here.

So your probably wondering how this ties into the family celebration. One thing that many leaders from church teach us is to live within our means and avoid Debt if at all possible. And use what we have and distinguish between wants and needs. I think If we live these principles It will help in many aspects of family live.

Part of The Family Proclamation states

"Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in Love and righteousness, to provide for their Physical and spiritual needs"

Well by saving money in some areas It will free up money to provide in other areas. My goal these next couple of months is to not only save money on clothing but to Plan My meals better and use some food storage to save money also I hope this will free up some money to Plan some freezer meals ( one day cooking 30 days of meal) But that is another whole post by it's self.

So I hope I don't overwhelm you with My blog posts the next couple of months as I plan to

1 Make a page a day for My family scrapbooks ( family History)

2 Recycle reuse Refashoin clothing ( teaching self reliance and resourcefulness to my family)
3 Plan My meals better use what I have.( nurture my family through well balanced meals)

4 And share My many other creative pursuits and Life experiences ( as I strive to Nurture and teach my family).

I hadn't scrapbooked in a while and was in a funk these helped me make some great looking pages .These templates help, by laying out your page with templates before you cut into your paper. Believe me it saves on paper and also helps you make some great layers on your pages .and frames your pictures beautifully
. I love these templates and the Owners are so great,actually. I Spoke to Susan in Cedar city Utah today So sweet.

Here are some pages I have made with the templates so far,
I have Madison Avenue, Paisley place and Floral Tiny templates.

As you can see the florals aren't that tiny. I embossed the flowers with My cuttlebug . These are Beckys prom pages . the Black and white swirl paper is glittered and so Pretty . But doesn't show in the pics.
I made some more pages last night and this morning . But haven"t taken pictures yet.
I am actually waiting until I receive My New camera which will take much better Pictures.

I just ordered Spook Alley borders and Wacky accessories can't wait to receive them. So check back in this month when I continue to make some pages with these wonderful templates.
I still Love my Cricut But these go hand in hand. Make a great layout then add some Cricut embellishments then I'm done.
I plan on making a Scrapbook page a day In September more details to follow as to why I am inspired to do this.

Summer just gets busy as I enjoy spending time with my family. Summers won"t be the same from Now on with a Daughter off to college next year and a Son on a mission next year.My Mom role is changing a little as they gain that independence and i try to deal with My new Independence or freedom Not sure if I'm liking it much But I am proud that they are great kids LOve them so Much.
So what has kept me busy ........

1 I have actually made some things this summer some wardrobe refashions and clear outs to Good will
2 I actually Did some Layouts for the first time for a long time last week
3 I ( and the family) Traveled out West to Las Vegas, Arizona and Utah We had a blast but over way too quickly.,
4 I am venturing into my new business Oh the Paper work LOL But It will be my venture to keep me busy with no Kids at home ( so weird) and building up inventory
5 I am De- junking my house found all sorts of treasures I forgot I had LOL( I must let go I must let go LOL)
6 I took up knitting again forgot how much I enjoy knitting
7I made a couple of Diaper cakes and other baby gifts.
Well thats just to name a few things that have kept me busy lately
Familys make the world go road and I am so grateful for mine with all the different seasons. and I have enjoyed spending time with My older kids they really are adults really, great conversations, opinions( well sometimes good LOL)

She is always such an inspiration to me and a great Mom to her adorable Kids. And a great roll model for my Daughter and Son
Jocelyn thanks for being the special person you are.

I have had so much fun preparing for girls camp this year although My health has thrown me for a loop these last couple of weeks.But I was still able to prepare some fun crafts for girls camp. which is next week so that's why I will be MIA for a little while in the middle of the woods with 40 girls age between 12-18 and some adult leaders Hope My health cooperates throughout the week and I make it through.
I love doing it though I am in charge of the crafts all week . But it is way more than that . It is a great way to feel closer to Heavenly father as we share our faith with each other and help to show the girls that they truly are Daughters of a loving Heavenly Father who loves them.. We all need to feel loved.and they also need to know they are not alone
So Our theme this year is He loves me
Here is the plaque we will make.

It is painted then they will decoupage their choice of paper let that dry then add the vinyl lettering.
I go all out for girls camp and bring half my house LOL I try to choose crafts that the girls will like doing and try to teach some new techniques too.So another craft we will be doing is Fabric flowers for headbands, Pins, clips etc I have had so much fun making the samples here are a few.

Also Zipper flowers/ jewlery ( Need to take pictures) .and various other jewelery ideas . It should be so much fun. I will update pictures when I get back.I have had fun researching different ideas and making some samples.

Here is a great resource for fabric for these adorable flowers, and yo yos etc that are all the rage right now. I use Fabric sample books . These can be found at more of a upholstery, home interior fabric type store. So many textures and styles. Most stores sell these when the fabrics are discontinued or some give them away as they throw them out otherwise( Shock throwing fabric away there must be a law against it LOL)

Now I have the daunting task of packing up supplies then loading my car. there is usually just enough space left over for Me and My daughter to fit in.
Luckily I have a wonderful husband who is an expert at packing my car up. He's had practice over the 6 years I have been doing this. I Love Him for supporting me . As It hasn't been easy for him as I do what I do best that is stress about everything ,as I have done a lot of the last few weeks. LOL
I think he likes to see some of my mountain supplies actually leave the house ! I will Miss him though as I have fun with some Wonderful young women and their Leaders . I have made some of my best friends while serving and helping at girls camp.
So I look forward to more wonderful Memories and Fun times this year.

Write it out journals and I won a prize!

Hi all so I eventually made 40 journals for the write it out project. My 80 year old Mother in law made 16 too although 10 of hers will be sent off at a later date as I had already mailed the 3 boxes.
It was so fun to work on such a great service project . Which I will continue to be involved with in the future.

Prom 2010

Here are a few pictures of prom from this weekend. It was a fun but hectic saturday.This was the dress that she bought in England last year. It was strapless But I hemmed it and added the strap/sleeve at the top. I have a previous post showing the dress before.
Our Baby Girl looked stunning . Her prom date was voted prom king this year.She's not a senior so wasn't tvoted prom Queen . But She is the Queen in our eyes They looked so good together.

anyway forgive me for being a proud Mom .I just had too share.

It's all about the accessories the theme was masquerade so she made her mask. I made her a clutch bag to match and she found a glass ring that matched exactly too . She also made her necklace and Earrings

these shoes originally had just a few clear gems on them . So she changed them out and added more gems to match the gems on her dress.

I just wanted to share something from One of my great friends Blogs. She is encouraging all us sewers to sew for a good cause. I will be helping anyone else?
as you know being a wife of a retired airforce guy and the mom of a soldier this is very close to my heart and I like to help families and spouses of the military where ever I can.
here is a quote from her blog

"My friend over at "I Make Stuff" is an Iraq War widow. Earlier this year, on the three-year-anniversary of her husband's death, she decided to start making journals to send to other women who have lost spouses in the war, to help them work through the grieving process.

She calls her cause the "Write It Out Project" and she currently needs help filling a request for 50 journals.

The journals are relatively inexpensive (the notebooks cost about one dollar) , they are very easy to make. This is a great first sewing project, so dust off that sewing machine you got for Christmas...and let's GO!"

Prom sewing Daughter Beckys dress

This year at least Ididn't have to make any dresses from scratch, just alterations.
This is my Daughters dress she bought it in England last year, because she wanted something no one else would have. The theme for prom this year is Masquerade so she made a really cool mask to go with this dress and one for her date ( I will show pictures) The front of the dress is encrusted with gem stones I will take some more close up pictures next week at prom.

For modesty reasons she didn't want it strapless . so the hem was way too long so It was great that we could use the fabric and make wide strap /sleeve with it. Can't wait till the 22nd to see it all come together shoes, makeup hair etc.

Challenge swap

I was involved in a challenge swap on the Cricut Message Board there were 6 Different groups with different thmes . We make 10 of the same for each group then they are sent to the hostess to swap out and you then receive 10 assorted Items very fun to do You could do anything from page embellishments, die cuts, Bookmarks, tags, journal boxes,

Vacation/travel paper was K&co UR here was cut with graphically speaking cartridge

Holiday group I chose Easter as I wanted to use this stamp that I have never used colored with watercolor technique

Ocean/beach group. This page embellishment is cut with graphically speaking cartridge, the catch a wave lettering is actually Blue glitter card stock I just put them in the bags with the white card stock for mailing purposes they are not attached to the white card stock

Animal group Pink poodles Bookmarks are cut with the paper pups cartridge Of course My favorite color scheme Black, white and Pink.

Birthday group Cupcake and cherry were cut with the Home decor cartridge love this cup cake the cherry is cut twice once with green then with shiny Red then I cut the stem off the red.

Anything goes group I made these tags because I was tidying up my scrap area and had a ton of scraps of this great USA Paper left from The military ball decorations I made so I thought I would use them up on these. USA was cut with the Stand and Salute cartridge thought they could be used on a Fourth of July page.

Now that I have finished these up I am really Not doing as many swaps as I used too have to get caught up on some of my albums and start using some of these great elements I have received. . I will still do the ATC's now and then as they are fun and a great way to connect with other crafty friends.

Pink and Girly Diaper cake

I am addicted to making these.. This was made for a friend that already had 4 little girls and this is her 5 one so I wanted it to be Pink and Girly.
I only used a little cricut on this one, as I wanted it to be plainer, or more elegant.
I used New arrival and Childs year for scalloped circle and Storybook for the "Emily".

It is a blanket wrapped around the top layer. I made the blanket to match the cute little cherry socks I found.

This diaper cake I made for friends's that are expecting their first baby a boy.The babys room is going to be a sports theme. The Dad is a college football player. so when I saw this future MVP onesie set I couldn't resist , so I based the cake around that.
It went great with the sports theme baby shower.

So I am involved in another swap with Jean P on the cricut Message board. I have really cut back on the amount of swaps I'm in.But its so hard to resist swapping with this wonderful group of ladies . We really have a great group of talented swappers and I love these little works of Art or Artist trading Cards . Its like little treasures from friends.
This ATC swap was an abc swap make atc's with letters of the alphabet I had B, J, M, W 2 letters in 2 groups.
We needed to be creative with our letters not the everyday A for Apple etc etc
So My B is" Bee Happy" the little Bee's have B's for wings.
Beehive and Bee's are cut with the Pooh and friends Cricut cartridge

J is for Japan I used my new pagoda Cartridge for the background mesh Lots of little bits to poke out once cut LOL.Then stamped and cut out my Japanese Lady
I had to made 13 of each of these cards which I did. But as I was packing them up to mail for some unknown reason I only had 12 one was lost in my crazy mess of a table. I even tidied up and still couldn't find it.
I thought thats ok I will send in 12 as the 13th one was for me anyway. So I pack up my others then go to bed for the night leaving my Japan ones still on the table, So I come down in the morning and My glue bottle had leaked all over one of my Japan cards. So I am now down to 11 arrgh..So I create another but didn't have any more of the trim I was using so one will have different trim. Seriously I am usually not that careless . I tell you my life is crazy right now!

M is for Magnolia I used the 3D decoupage technique on this card. where you have layers of the same image popped up with pop-up adhesive pads . I fell in love with this technique in England. I love the effect it has.

This is my W card for Wishing well I used different Glittered card stock for the letters and background the well was cut with the Happily Ever After Cricut cartridge It's one of the extras with snow white. So even if you never use the princesses on this cartridge there are so many extras It's a great cartridge.

So yes I am seriously the worst at keeping up with my blog lately.
What with health issues that still aren't resolved, Hoping more surgery isn't needed, But I am just chugging along as best I can.
my Dr said " You need to relieve some stress from your life"
I said OK maybe you find out whats wrong then I won't stress!

Design Team Ribbon flower layout

Here is my Design Team entry for Our challenge this month over at Glue, Scissors , Paper.
I made this fun layout using up some scraps of ribbon to make handmade flowers. This will be a page for My Daughters High School Album, She loves going to all the different sports events in High school, and her and her friends have so much High School spirit.

I Stamped my white Background paper with Stampin Up Night of Navy and itty bitty Background stamp.
The title was cut with the Storybook Cricut cartridge, and Hello Kitty cartridge for the cute Hello Kitty Cheer leader.

Well I have been super Busy , tying and curling, and Glueing and pinning,and sewing, and cutting, the list goes on...........

Ribbon and Bows adventure.

So I'm starting a new venture, Girls hair bows and headbands.And other Ribbon crafts After Making these for years and selling to friends etc.I am finally making the step to sell online etc. more details to follow.The name of our venture is Boo Boos Bows, Rebeccas Ribbons. I will have a separate site for this.

Its a venture My Daughter and I will do together to help raise funds for college etc in the next few years. Still working on my blog/site for it.
But I do have many bows etc to sell right now.Just in time for Easter
I will post a link when I have it all set up in the next couple ofweeks . I will also Make custom bows upon request.So if you have a dress you would like a matching bow for let me know I will try my best to match ribbon etc.

I will also make custom bows for weddings and other ocassions upon request.

For those that really know me , Know I have a total obsession with ribbon in all its variety's LOL So I am so excited for this new adventure.

It was made with envelopes covered on patterned paper then the flaps are glued to together some pages have pockets some don't depending on the way the envelopes were together ribbons should be tied on the front

I cut the little girl Cut out with the Childs year cartridge then embossed the dress with the textile folder on My cuttlebug Title is cut with Storybook and the heart was from Storybook too I think I can't remember.

Make a Mini album all about yourself Include self portraits and journalling and include your scrapbook style.This was hard for me as I hate pictures of Myself . But also realise I need to have them in my albums for my family to remember me by.

I made this Minnie album as My nickname was Minnie growing up. As far as scrapbook style that was a hard one I love so many different styles. So I chose Pick and brown for my color scheme as It is my favorite, and I used a lot of Ribbon tied on the rings holding the book together. As those of you that know me Know I am a totally Ribbon addict !

Challenge #24 Include some thing hot to warm us up

I made a paint can for my daughter who was so mad that I gave My other Love paint can away for the paint can swap I was in so I made her one almost the same. I plan on filling it with goodies for valentines day.

My Brother Layout LID challenge

I have been taken part in a LID challenge on the Cricut message board. LID stands for Laying it down.

I have to give a shout out today to My Son Stefan. He is 19 today. This is the first year ever he hasn't been home. So an emotional Day in lots of ways for me. I was 19 when I was pregnant with Stefan. and I do not know where the time has gone. He is still away In Military Training in Arizona and will return home in March.

Making little works of "heart" ATC's

This last few months I have really had fun swaping and sharing these Little works of heart( Art).
I have been involved in Numorous swaps on the Cricut message board. Making Artist trading cards. These are small 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 little cards. decorated and swapped with friends. They are so much fun and you feel like you have these little works of art from friend. or works of "Heart" as I like to call them. . I have been involved in some ATC challenge swaps, which are great. Makes be put my thinking cap on and its great to see everyones take on the challenge. I think I have an Addiction!

These ATC's were made for a 2x2 challenge swap. the details were to make them using 2 colors and 2 ideas/ techniques.There were 4 groups so I signed up for them all. Great group of girls to swap with. and great Hostess GrammaP thanks for hosting.

Group#1 Pink and Blue ,Stamped background and paper piecing .

Had to play with my new hello kitty cartridge that Santa bought me , So cute.

Love this cartridge reminds me of my youth in the 80's

Group#2 Red and Black. Stiched ribbon and Heat embossing

The background was I roller stamp. I then embossed with Black embossing powder. I also embossed the image, too hard to see in the picture.the ribbon is sheer and pleated then sewn on the card.then added some deep red Bling. This picture so doesn't show the details.

Group#3 Pink and Tan ,Recycled Clear acrylic and distressed paper

I crumpled the music paper then opened it back out and sanded.

printed my quote on transparency. and added it to the clear acrylic card. and of course I had to add ribbon sorry for the glare on the picture really hard to take a picture of this one.

Group # 4 Pink and Brown fancy folds and Cuttlebug embossing.

Made the little folded covered ATC on my New toy . Martha stewart Score board Although she is not my favorite person as a person. I do love the tools and punches she has. :-) Bought it for a great deal with a coupon at Micheals. and a Gift card from One of My best friends thanks Gloria.so much cheaper than other score products out there. with coupon it was around $10 beats the $30-40 of the other produts and so far I am loving it, it makes great envelopes too, and have had no problems. Other than the fact that My house is a wreck as I want to play with it all the time LOL.

I cut the marque cut from the storybook Cartridge

then Cuttlebug embossed it with the Textile folder. Love the texture looks so much better in person than the pictures.

The stamp is from Stampin up.

and the flowers are from the wedding section of Micheals. ( great little flowers come in all sorts of colors)this is 2 layered the popped up with pop dots

I punched wholes along the wide pink ribbon then took off the handle then threaded the ribbon on then tied White and Balck in between. The Black ribbon has white stitching on it so it matched the paper perfectly

Here is my first layout of 2010. This is my entry for The Design Team over on Glue Scissors Paper. The challenge was to use some element of our hand writing on a project.
This was a Huge challenge for me as I Hate my Handwriting. But I also think it is important to record your Handwriting for generations to come. It is Part of you and should be shared.

Time to Organise and start a New year

Well the Holidays flew past. And here we are starting a new year. I am grateful for so many things as I ponder my many blessings. i am especially greatful for my health. This time last year I had just come out of the Hospital after major surgery. So was pretty much on Bed rest all of January and February. So it pastby in a blur, But I did get to hibernate from the Cold weather. Not the case this year Boy is it cold out there.

All the more reason to stay home and create. I have been seriously working on Organising my scrap space. It's a never ending job, But had to be done. now I can see all the products I have to work with. And hopefully save money by using what I have. Beleieve me I am Not short of supplies.
But of course Those new wonderful products always call my name so I am not going to deprive myself . But I will pace myself LOL.

So stay tuned for Pictures of My Scrap Space. and some layouts I am working on.
My goal for 2010 is to do at least 1 layout a week, probably more.
Any way Hope you all have a wonderful healthy, creative New year Happy 2010!

Glass Etch Nativity

So this is what has kept me busy this week.

Please excuse my mess behind some of the pictures and there is a line going across the one picture not sure why I will come back and edit with better pictures
I have to say this Is not my original Idea . a Friend Shared this project with me and she was taught by someone else

Supplies used
10 x18 piece of Glass edges polished so not sharp.
Clear Contact paper 10x 18 piece
Exacto knife ( or similar knife I got mine at lowes)
Glass etch Cream I used Armour etch ( used a coupon at micheals)
sponge brush
2x4 with 1/2 inch grrove cut down middle
Black acrylic paint
Varnish

Instructions

You first stick the contact to the front of the glass sticking down carefully so No bubbles

Then tape stencil or template behind glass .

You then cut away the areas of the contact paper that you want etched. With the black template behind .I cut away all the Black parts then peeled them off.

Then spread cream on the glass following manufacturers instructions.

Just remember this is a acid like chemical use in a well ventilated area . I use a sponge brush, although you should really wear Gloves I guess . I don't as the sponge brush keeps it away from my skin. I then leave My glass etch cream on for about 20 mins. I think it actually works in about 5 But I just leave it on for longer just in case.

Then peel off pattern from back of glass,

Then rinse Cream off under running water, then peel off remains of contact paper clean glass well and you are done with the etching.

Then paint 2x4 base Black then when dry Brush with varnish of your choice.

The cutting out of the contact paper to make the stencil does take awhile.takes me an hour , and if you start it while your standing you need to finish it while your standing. and the same If you start it while sitting finish it sitting. as It changes your view or angle on the glass. It is not hard to do just like tracing really but with a Knife. and you don't have to press real hard as the contact paper is really thin.

But I love the results I am already thing about other images, or sayings I can etch.

I already have orders for these for next Christmas. At least I have a whole year to get them done !

Hi sorry I haven't updated my Blog lately. I have been busy making gifts. and Its killing me that I can't post pictures of some of them yet. as I want them to be a surprise for friends.

I am so Excited for my Son to be coming home from His Military training for Christmas. Although he does have to go back out till March

I'm realising Christmas is changing so much from When My kids were small. But I am enjoying them as Young adults now . So I am looking forward to spending time with them this coming couple of weeks.Traditions May change. But then New ones start. One thing I can share is some picures of some glass etch Nativitys I have been working on. I love Nativitys and collect them when I see them. And love the spirit they bring to this season. It helps us to enjoy the true meaning of christmas.
I went to one of My Best friends houses for a few days last week , and we worked on a wonderful project together. And My Husband was even impressed and said they would make a great gift. So in my insanity I said yes and made 4 of them in a week! details to follow.........

One was a wrapping surviavl kit I cut a little door in the back of a 2 litre soda bottle decorated the bottle . filled it with Bows Tape, Tags and Chocolate Of course. and It's a wrapping survival kit

So now she can enjoy some chocolate that is hidden in this bottle behind the bows etc

Sorry Its been so long and I haven't posted . just been Busy with Christmas Prep.
This is the second year I have organized and hosted a 12 days of Christmas Secret Sister exchange. We had a blast at Our reveal party I will post some pictures of the gift ideas when I get them.
Here are a couple of things that I made for My secret sister

This is a Bed warmer ( it is folded in half ) It has an inner pillow filled with feed corn then a removable cover to wash

This is the bed warmer unfolded and I made a little eye pillow too same concept although the eye pillow is filled with Flax seed and lavender can be cooled in freezer or heated for 30 seconds in the microwave.

Design team Challenge . Pear

Here is a layout i made for My first project on the Design team for Scrapbooking and crafting friends. This time around we recieved a Digi stamp set from mygrafico.com ( great site) the set is called Ultra Mod Patterned.
I used Basic Grey Paper from the Recess line as it matched perfectly as it was covered in fruit including pears. I cut my Mats on My Cricut with the Childs year cartridge card function. I Changed my Pear image from Black to red then printed on Colored card stock then mounted on Red. I popped one of the pears up with pop dots. The Card stock is Bazill card stock and I used my Fiskers punch on the top corner and bottom edge
This is my Daughter and Neice in Matching outfits. Old photos as my Daughter is now 16 and Niece 12

Snowflake cut out card ACY

This is one of the coolest things about this cartidge which I will play with so much more.
It has a card function key for this card, I pressed the card function key . The size was 5 1/2, then the Winter key, which is the one with the child and a snowman, then pressed cut.
Then let the magic begin. . My machine then cut the perfect card complete with 3 cut out snowflakes along the edge, Decorative edge and small holes for snow on the front of the card.
I then lined the card with white and added 3 gold brads to show through for the centers of the snowflakes.I inked the edges of the sentiment with a gold ink pad to mimic the Ribbon.
the sentiment says " May the true spirit of Christmas fill your heart with Peace, your home with Love" the sentiment is from Stampin up "Snow swirled" stamp set

I have a confession though For those that know me as the Ribbon addict. I actually picked my ribbon first then matched everything to the ribbon, Its an obsession I tell you LOL

Sparkly pink fairy ACY

this little cutie is for a card swap and the challenge was to use 3 shades of the same color.
I cut the Birthday fairy at 3 inches then cut the shadow the same.I used my cuttlebug embossing folder Swirls and birds for the background piece behind the fairy .I love this Pink glitter paper by k& CO which I found on sale at Ollies locally . I used pop dot adhesive on my fairy to make her stand out
and the border on the Glitter paper was cut with My Fiskers border punch.

This is a ATC ( artist trading card) for a swap I am in the theme was mix and match so we had to combine something from 2 lists of topics . so this is family and black and white. Or family and quotes, I can't decide.
the quote says: God could not be everywhere so he created Mothers"
I cut the mother and baby in black at 3 inches then cut the shadow white at same size.
then the mother leaning down I cut at 2 1/2 I think It may of been 2 I didn't right it down. then I used pop dots to raise up the front image. there is a gold peel off sticker saying mother st the bottom of the card. Love how this turned out.

For those of you that have a cricut machine. RUN don't WALK and get the A childs year cartridge.LOL For those local ladies come over and use it at my house. LOL
It is my all time favorite cartridge. I reach for it over and over again. it has many function keys as well as the great silhouettes which are so classy. The following posts will be a few projects I have done lately using this cartridge. And Believe me there will be many more.

Are you sick of paint cans yet ?

Anyway here is Mymost recent Paint can this will be sent to my Partner at the end of this month. But shhhh its a secret swap . So we don't know who our partner is . I hope she likes it as much as I liked making it I tryed to make it look like a Elf shoe so sewed a shoe that slips over the paint can. it has a pocket on the side too. We had different Chelledge projects to include in our can. I will post more pictures of those once the swap is over I don't want to give my self away too much. But in the pocket at the side is a book mark and some tags that were 2 of the challedges I also tied the can opener on to the handle then slipped it into the pocket and added a ribbon Poinsetta to the top of the opener Somyou can see that in the picture. Then of course I went Ribbon crazy on the handle. This was so much fun to make .

Here is a valentines can that I made the girl that I swapped with was a tinker bell fanatic. I have a Cricut machine and a Tinkerbell cartridge to cut the die cuts which any of you local ladies are welcome to come over and use by the way.
I embossed the hearts.
and used red floral wire to wrap the hearts around the can. Tinkerbell has little gems on her shoes and hair. just to add the Bling.I always tie ribbon on the handles to decorate. For those who know me I am addicted to Ribbon so try to use it on almost every project. Luckily I have a Ribbon outlet near me and a Trimtex outlet store so am able to fuel my addiction pretty in expensively LOL I actually ended up adding more ribbon to the handles than shows in the pictures I just tie small pieces on until the handle is covered.
The other can I made is a more traditional valentine theme heart paper Love quotes and title.

The "Marie" can was one of the cans I received. Isn't it clever how she laced up the side with thin ribbon. and the paper underneath is sparkly these pictures don't do it justice

Not your average gift Wrap. Throughout these last couple of years i have been involved in some fun swaps. One being a apaint can swap they have been different seasons themes.
Basically you take a empty Gallon paint can . Which can be purchased at Coles hardware and some paint stores for 2-3 dollars. Then decorate it with a certain theme then fill it with Goodies.There is no end to the possibilities .These can be decorated for any age group. The Pictures are some of the paint cans I have receieved and the ones I have made too. Especially this time of year it is fun to come up with creative gift wrap ideas.that can disguise the gift. Fill with candy, bath goodies, small toys, cookies, the list goes on. even decorate one in Husbands favorite sports team and fill with his favorite snack.they can be covered in Fabric, paper, gift wrap there are many tutorials or patterns online. But if you have any questions don't hesitate to call me or maybe you want to come over and i will help you make one.

Sorry Haven't updated much lately Just trying to catch up on some swaps, Work out what Christmas gifts I am going to make and keep up with Family etc.
. Every year I say I will start early and every year here I am into NOV and Don't have half the stuff started that I would like to have started.
So I Do have some pictures I need to post and I want to include some quick gift ideas too .
I am Just trying to be careful what I post as some of the things are for Secret sisters etc or Gifts that I don't want people to know about yet. So If You see something on here then recieve it as a gift . Try to act surprised OK LOL
I am also trying to get my Blog organized and try to work out what I'm doing. May need to ask some help from My wonderful writer,journalist, Super mom ,Friend with the initials JC as she seems to know what she is doing

Cards for soldiers Christmas.

Some of these cards were made using supplies from a card kit swap that I participated in on the Cricut MB last year. in each kit was a 6x6 Patterned paper, 6x6 plain card stock, stamped image, ribbon and some small embellishments. then the design was up to us. it was a fun swap.

Ok I know this isn't craft related in anyway, But this is the reason I haven't done much with my Blog Lately. I will post some more cards for soldiers cards tomorrow.

I Can truly say last week was one of those life moments that you will never forget. Last Thursday we got to go down and See Our Son Graduate from Baic Combat training for the Army National gaurd. After 22 weeks of training to see him was an amazing experience. MY son who went away a Boy of 18 . Now is changed so much he has grown Physically and Mentally and we could not be any prouder of Him.
We love you PFC Eisenhower you Made it through.
Now I know you will make it through AIT in Arizona. Can't wait to see him Again at Christmas.
After seeing 1400 troops graduate I Know we can be proud and gratefull for those wonderfull Men and Women who are the future of the Military

here Is what has been keeping me busy for the last couple of weeks. I had to make 3 adult poodle skirts and 3 child. I didn't like the poodle that came with the pattern so cut a paper pattern with My paper pups cartridge on my Cricut machine. I think this poodle is so much cuter.
but Believe me I am so grateful they are done now. Because of course my sewing machine decides to mess up right near the end. But It made it through.

Black and white inchies swap that I did. I may not see the results of this swap though as. The hostess has flaked on us and not returned our projects sore subject !

Here is another thing that is keeping me sane and using up some scraps. There is a wonderful organization called cards for soldiers this is an organization that collects handmade cards to send to troops stationed over seas to send home to loved ones. right now they are doping a Christmas card drive for anybody who may be interested her is the link on the Cricut MB. http://www.cricut.com/messageboard/tm.aspx?m=5278605
It is a wonderful way to bless the soldiers and their family's who are keeping us safe and serving our country

here is my latest sewing Project. to make aprons for a local Kremery opening. She has a retro 50s theme going on. so although you can't really seeit in these pictures these aprons are black and white with pink trim. So fun to make.
